The North Dakota State Student Incentive Grant Program (SSIG) provides grants to North Dakota residents pursuing their undergraduate degree at a North Dakota public, private and tribal college. The purpose of this grant is to assist students with their cost of attending a North Dakota post-secondary institution. A State Grant also reduces the amount of money that a student needs to borrow for education. If you are a student (or former student) who teaches at a grade level that is deemed as a teacher shortage area, you may be eligible for the North Dakota Teacher Shortage Loan Forgiveness Program. The Teacher Scholarship Shortage Loan Forgiveness Program will reduce student loan indebtedness by up to $1,000 per year (with a maximum of $3,000). The number of annual loan reductions depends on the current legislative appropriations. If you are a student (or former student) in North Dakota, you may be eligible for the North Dakota STEM Occupations Student Loan Forgiveness Program. The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Occupations Student Loan Program will reduce student loan indebtedness by up to $1,500 per year (with a maximum of $6,000) for those students who have graduated in a STEM related field and been employed in a STEM occupation in North Dakota for one year. The number of funded applicants is limited and contingent upon legislative appropriations. North Dakota Indian Scholarship Program

If you are an American Indian in North Dakota, you may be eligible for the North Dakota Indian Scholarship Program. The North Dakota Indian Scholarship Program assists students in obtaining a college education by providing various scholarships that range from $800 to $2000 per year to approximately 150 to 175 eligible applicants each year. The scholarship is based upon scholastic ability and unmet financial need. To be eligible for the North Dakota Indian Scholarship Program, you must:

Be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Indian tribe and a resident of North Dakota
Be accepted for admission at an institution of higher learning or state vocational program within North Dakota
Be enrolled full-time
Have a grade point average above 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
