Pell Grants for College
The Federal Pell Grant is awarded to U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens. The Pell Grant is primarily awarded to low-income families, and you apply for the Pell Grant when you submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Pell Grants are usually only awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree. The maximum Pell Grant award through June 30th, 2010 is $5,350. This amount is decided on by the federal government and varies from year to year. If you qualify, you will receive any amount up to $5,350 depending on which school you attend, your stat us as full or part-time, and whether or not you plan to attend for the full year.
