Perhaps the most common, and most used grant for college is the Pell Grant. One of the most beneficial things about the Pell Grant, as with other grants, is that you don’t have to pay the money back once you graduate (as opposed to a student loan which you have to pay back). You can apply for the Federal Pell grant by submitting what is called the FAFSA – a free application for Federal Student Aid. Pell Grants are usually awarded to undergraduate students who have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree or a professional degree. There is also a maximum award that you can receive and it varies from year to year, so you will want to do some research to see what the maximum award is for this year. It is certainly worth your time to fill out an FAFSA form here just to see if you qualify for the Pell Grant or any other grant.
