South Carolina Need-based Grants

South Carolina Need-based Grants are available to South Carolina’s neediest students. In order to be eligible, South Carolina students must complete an FAFSA. Foster care youth may receive the maximum award in addition to need-based grants funds specifically for foster care youth. Students in South Carolina must be enrolled in at least six credit hours to be eligible for the South Carolina needs-based grants. South Carolina HOPE Scholarship

If you are a South Carolina resident, you may be eligible for the South Carolina HOPE Scholarship. The South Carolina HOPE Scholarship is a one-year merit-based scholarship created for entering freshmen attending eligible four year institutions in South Carolina. The South Carolina HOPE Scholarship requires the following eligibility criteria:

Earn a minimum 3.0 GPA
Be a South Carolina resident at the time of high school graduation and college enrollment
You must not be a recipient of the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, the LIFE Scholarship or Lottery Tuition Assistance Scholarship

South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship

The South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship was created to retain academically talented high school students in the South Carolina area. The South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is based on merit. In order to be eligible for the South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, a student must be a South Carolina resident and fit the following criteria:

Score at least a 1200 on the SAT, or a 27 on the ACT
Earn a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
Rank in the top 6 percent of the class during the sophomore, junior and senior years

South Carolina LIFE Scholarship

If you are a South Carolina resident, you may be eligible for the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship. The Legislative Initiatives for Future Excellence (LIFE) program was designed to help South Carolina residents achieve a higher education. In order to be eligible for the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

Students must earn at least a 3.0 GPA
Students must rank in the top 30 percent of their graduating class
Students must score at least 1100 on the SAT test
Students must be South Carolina residents at the time of college enrollment
Students must NOT be recipients of the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, the South Carolina Hope Scholarship, or the Lottery Tuition Assistance within the same calendar year.
