			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you are an Idaho resident who is disabled or a member of a minority group and have financial need you may be eligible for the Idaho Minority and &#8220;At Risk&#8221; Student Scholarship.  The Idaho Minority and &#8220;At Risk&#8221; Student Scholarship is available to graduates of Idaho high schools, and is only valid if the student attends one of eight post-secondary institutions in the state of Idaho.  Applicants must be American Indian / Alaskan Native, Black (non-Hispanic), or Hispanic.  Applicant must be hearing impaired, physically disabled , or visually impaired.  For more information on the Idaho Minority and &#8220;At Risk&#8221; Student Scholarship and other grants and scholarships in Idaho, please visit the <a title="Idaho State Board of Education" href="http://www.boardofed.idaho.gov" target="_blank">Idaho State Board of Education web site</a>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are several different scholarships available from the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  These scholarships are available for both undergraduate and graduate study.  This is a merit-based scholarship program and the award selection is very competitive.  The amount and value of the awards vary from year to year, but according to their web site, in 2009, 348 applications were received for 20 awards.  The awards ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.The following are the eligibility requirements for applicants:</p>
<ul>
<li>Spoken communication must be the primary mode of communication for the student</li>
<li>Hearing loss must have been diagnosed prior to the age of seven</li>
<li>Hearing loss must be bilateral</li>
<li>Applicants must have applied to or be enrolled in an accredited college / university as a full-time student</li>
<li>Applicants must have at least a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 non-weighted scale</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The National Federation of the Blind gives thirty scholarships every year to recognize achievement by blind scholars.  In order to be eligible for these scholarships you must meet the following criteria:</p>
<ol>
<li>You must be legally blind in both eyes</li>
<li>You must be residing in the United States</li>
<li>You must be planning to pursue or persuing a full-time, postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a United States institution in the current scholastic year</li>
<li>You must be willing to participate in the entire National Federation of the Blind national convention and in all scheduled scholarship program activities.</li>
</ol>
