Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

There are several different scholarships available from the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. These scholarships are available for both undergraduate and graduate study. This is a merit-based scholarship program and the award selection is very competitive. The amount and value of the awards vary from year to year, but according to their web site, in 2009, 348 applications were received for 20 awards. The awards ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.The following are the eligibility requirements for applicants:

  • Spoken communication must be the primary mode of communication for the student
  • Hearing loss must have been diagnosed prior to the age of seven
  • Hearing loss must be bilateral
  • Applicants must have applied to or be enrolled in an accredited college / university as a full-time student
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 non-weighted scale
